Hope every MOM, GRANDMA and those that fill in as MOMS have an absolutely WONDERFUL Mothers’s Day! I got this GREAT card from my Aunt Joy and felt it describes my life as a mom PERFECTLY!!! Thanks sooooo much Aunt Joy!
We’ve been pretty busy the last month or so… Melissa celebrated her 9th Birthday which was April 24th with friends at Laser Quest and a sleep over. Ally had her third pamidronate/bone infusion in the outpatient infusion center (for 5 hours) at Lurie Children’s hospital and unfortunately was sick for about a whole week after with flu like symptoms that can result from the infusions or another bug or combo, but is all better now. Kristyn’s cheerleading season ended with a special banquet. She’s a junior and has also been studying and taking her AP exams and ACT test. My dad had his second part of his heart surgery, had some breathing and pain complications which resulted in 2 weeks recovery at Northwestern hospital and lots of advocating by me. He is now recovering at our house while he is also adjusting to using a bi-pap breathing machine to sleep safer at night. He will go back to his senior apartment in another week or so. I am still advocating/fighting with the pro-bono help of a law group to get Ally the education she deserves and the right to safely attend school with her home nurses. She unfortunately has only had limited homebound instruction for ALL of 1st grade and deserves to attend a school with friends and lots of fun/learning activities compared to her 1 hour of instruction at home. She also needs her therapies. Yesterday we attended my nephew Vinny’s 1st communion…. (Picture Albums will be posted at the end of this blog!)
Coming up on Saturday, June 8th is our next walk in honor of Ally and all the kids, adults and angels who have Spinal Muscular Atrophy. It is the IL Families of SMA Walk-N-Roll at Independence Grove in Libertyville, IL. Registration and fun begins at 8:30am and the walk starts at 10:30. We are REALLY hoping some family and friends will join us for a morning of fun while we work towards a CURE and support for families dealing with this disease. I understand not everyone can come or contribute to each walk we do, but please know it means the world to us to those that are able to help or join us once in awhile. SMA is still a HUGE part of our lives and so many other families. By helping, one day there WILL be a CURE and in the meantime, you are offering support to families too!
For more information on the walk, see my previous blog post (https://angelally.wordpress.com/2013/05/02/need-help-and-family-and-friends-to-join-the-allys-angels-team-il-families-of-sma-walk-n-roll-on-june-8th/). We are in GREAT need of donations and its not too late to be a business sponsor and have your logo on the back of the official walk t-shirt.
To make a donation or join our team, go to Ally’s Angels Team page at http://www.fsma.org/LWC/ally.
Thanks again for everyone’s support and friendships!!!
