Well, the good news is that we are still home together as a family. The bad news is that today is 1 full week that Ally has been in her bed/bedroom fighting this illness. Overall she is slowly improving as the fevers have stayed down and she is having less desats (breathing trouble) during her treatments. She still has something going on though and needs to be on her bi-pap breathing machine 24/7 with extra treatments. I think whatever she has is breaking up, as the last two days, she has been trying to cough a ton on her own, which is painful, so we use her cough assist and also tylenol/motrin. We are very lucky to have had GREAT nurses Lucy and Megan who helped Ally (and me) out 4 days this week.
Today I even got to step away and go on a field trip to Brookfield Zoo with Melissa’s class. It was nice seeing her with her class friends. I was a little nervous about the coughing on the bus, and then Melissa threw up at the zoo. She has no fever and is acting completley fine now, so praying it was something she ate??? She will be keeping her distance from Ally though. My mom was also sick to her tummy last night, so it could be a bug or something we ate together. Illness in any way is so tough for our family, so praying it all passes quickly and we can enjoy spring.
Kristyn is doing Round 1 cheerleading tryouts at Lane Tech High School tomorrow. It’s pretty tough since they only have a varsity team, but I am proud of her for trying. I’m also super proud that she was accepted at Lane. It is a magnet high school in Chicago and pretty competitive to get in. She makes me very proud. I can’t believe she is graduating 8th grade and will be in high school. Guess I’m going to have to loosen the ropes a little, as she will be taking a bus to school next year and doing more and more on her own.
Please say an extra prayer for Billy’s mom, Stephanie. She has been in the hospital for about a week and is intubated. She’s been fighting emphasema (?sp) for awhile, as well as other health complications. She’s a very tough woman and hates people knowing when she is ill, but the prayers will help.
Also prayers to anyone else sick. It’s been a tough time for many of Ally’s SMA friends (Madison, MJ, Karah, Haylee, Aiden, Stella…. and I’m sure I’m forgettting some). Special cyber hugs to Stella and her family, as she had trach surgery today.
Happy Early Mother’s Day to all the mommies out there!!!
Continuing to pray for Ally and all of you. Will pray for Billy’s mom as well. Happy Mother’s Day. Hope you have a wonderful day and that Ally gets to be a part of it.God Bless all of you.
Hey there,
Sending you prayers of protection over Ally to avoid the hospital again! The adenovirus is going around here . . . the boys had diarrhea/some vomiting off and on for a week. Hope it doesn’t return–Stella tested positive for it and got junky lungs but doing much better. Thanks so much for keeping Stella in thought and prayer–I do think the trach was the best option for Stella given all the nosebleeds. We will learn with her–such new territory.
Hugs and prayers!
Love,
Sarah
